Originally from London, she now lives in Far North Queensland, where she divides her time between her art and working to save the endangered mahogany glider. Her first memories of wildlife are linked to England as her early connections with nature were established in the English woods.

Daryl has received an Australia Day Award for her work in environmental education and wildlife rescue, Cassowary Award, and the Drawing prize at the Hinchinbrook Bird Life Art Awards. She is a member of many artistic and conservation societies, including the Wildlife Art Society of Australia and The Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland, of which she is the president of her local branch.
