Heidi Cooper Smith rediscovered her love for illustration after spending twenty years playing with clay, when three small children and a large picture book collection burst into her life. Six months after picking up her pencils and paints, Heidi was offered her first illustration contract with Koala Books.
In 2015 and 2016 she won the CYA illustrated manuscript competition, which led to the publication of her first book as both author and illustrator in 2018 with Wombat Books. Using a mix of media, including watercolour, pastel, pencil and digital, Heidi’s work is humorous, emotive and often whimsical.
